Implantologia Studio Dentistico Raschiotti Sanremo

Implantology is that branch of dentistry that deals with the replacement of one or more lost dental elements by the use of implants.

What is a dental implant?

An implant is a small titanium screw, which, like an artificial root, is surgically inserted into the bone and allows a single tooth or larger prostheses, needed to replace several teeth or an entire arch, to be screwed in.

There are different types of implants, with different sizes, suitable for different areas of the arch and the amount of available bone, so before proceeding with the procedure, it is essential to carry out a three-dimensional radiographic investigation, which can be done directly in our practice.

Success rates

Nowadays, implantology is a reliable therapy, the literature agrees that implantology has very high success rates: 97% at 5 years, which means that after 5 years 97% of implants work. The implant is made of titanium, as it is a biocompatible material that does not cause rejection reactions by the body. It is therefore not like organ rejection, as many patients fear. If an implant should fail, simply unscrew it without pain, wait for it to heal and insert a new one.

Who is implantology for?

Implantology can be performed on patients who have finished bone growth, so it cannot be done on children and adolescents.
It is therefore aimed at most adult patients.
In order to be able to provide the most suitable solution, a thorough assessment of the general health status is required, so that even patients with major diseases such as diabetes or heart disease can be treated. In the case of insufficient bone to be able to place an implant, modern surgical techniques allow us, with small increases in bone, to be able to recreate the situation necessary to be able to rehabilitate almost any patient. After implant placement, a period of about 3 months is required for proper bone healing before the new fixed tooth can be screwed in.

Immediate load

With the modern technique of All-on-four immediate loading, it is possible, with only 4 implants, to screw in the fixed teeth of an entire arch, on the same day of surgery, so as to reduce costs, postoperative discomfort and have excellent aesthetics immediately. It is also possible to proceed with immediate loading in the anterior sectors to replace a single tooth or small groups of teeth.
